All Ask Computer and Internet Glossary
Anti-Virus software will search your computer and email for viruses and remove them from your system. Anti-Virus software typically examines files on your computer against a known dictionary of matching virus definitions or signatures - if a virus signature is found on your system, the anti-virus software will attempt to heal and/or remove the infected file. Anti-Virus software may also identify suspicious behaviour by computer programs on your system and block/report activity.
